The first question our physical bodies ask us is “Where am I?” How we organize is how we orient to the world. We have many systems that enable us to orient and the vestibular system of the inner ear is a key piece. It anchors us to a steady, unchangeable place. Notice how the chicken uses its head as the fixed point to understand orientation and movement. Most exceptional athletes orient from this system and accordingly have superb head carriage. Does your head position help or hurt your overall posture? Do you have issues with motion sickness in cars, planes and boats? Cultivating your inner sense of position can relieve this.
